Elena Urso<\/strong> is 16 years old and although she was born in Palermo, she is a true Perugina acquisita: “I started playing when I was 10 years old with the old Grifo Perugia team. I played in attack then I started playing goalkeeper. I have always played for Perugia, as I have worn this jersey my attachment to it has grown. For me it is an honor to wear it, I have great respect for it.”<\/p>\n Elena has played in the youth sector, Primavera and is beginning to breathe the air of the first team: “The main differences are in the way of training and concentration. The more you go up in category, the more the level also goes up and therefore what is asked of you.” His point of reference between the goalposts speaks German: “Even though he is not very popular now, I always liked Manuel Neuer. Among women definitely Laura Giuliani.” <\/p>\n The role of goalkeeper is a special one, Elena knows, and that is precisely why he likes it so much: “The first few times you go in goal you realize that it is almost a different sport. I got along well probably also because this role reflects my character. I brought my personality inside the field. And above all, I always had fun.” Regarding the age-old question of how penalties are parried Elena has her own opinion: “I bang a side before the penalty taker kicks. I don’t stand still and wait until the last moment because it’s hard to guess on the run. Then there are so many things to look at such as the position the shooter puts himself in, which foot he uses. But I always tend to decide first. The last penalty I parried was last year, the ball was halfway up to my right.” <\/p>\n Elena was one of the protagonists of the Juniores championship won last season: “On the bus there was a lot of tension, once we entered the field for warm-up however, we calmed down. I remember during the game saying to myself ‘Wow, I’m here and I’m playing.’ At the end of the 90 minutes obviously I was excited.” Crucial for Elena is that a group does not remain as such but takes an extra leap: “More than the group I would say it is important the team, they are not the same thing. The team is formed mainly in the locker room, not only on the field.
