The first day of the Women’s B Series ends with a 3-0 result in favor of the Como team. Grifoncelle who started well and held their own against the Lombardy women in the start of the match. A chance to take the lead evaporated in the eighth minute with a counterattack by the red and white ladies, ended with a shot by Giulia Piselli that ended, however, in the goalkeeper’s arms.
The visiting team began to gain ground until they took the lead in the 24th minute. It was all decided in the first half with Riozzese ‘s second and third goals coming in the 37′ and 44’, respectively.
In the second half, the result does not change.
“We met a very strong team,” commented coach Luciano Mancini at the end of the match. “There is some regret for the first half, because we suffered a loss that perhaps we did not deserve, then in the second half we re-entered the game better and held our own; I saw a positive response from the girls beyond the result. We will have to work on the mistakes we made, but all in all in a difficult game against a tough opponent, the team showed character and I am convinced that as time goes on they will be able to show their worth.”
The words of Head Director, Valentina Roscini, close this first day of the championship this way, “We are aware that this team can do well. We knew we were facing a difficult competition, but I think that, apart from some mistakes that we will have to work on, we played a good game, playing an excellent second half. The young age of the girls and also the first impact with this category, require a break-in time to get results.”
Next commitment, on Sunday, September 20, at 3 p.m., Brescia-Perugia.
