RECOVERY 9TH DAY | PERUGIA-ROMA CF 0-2

Perugia, March 18, 2021 – The recovery of the ninth day of the women’s Serie B championship ended with the result 2-0 in favor of Roma.

Coach Luciano Mancini ‘s red-and-whites put in a good performance holding their opponents throughout the match and showing neat and well-organized play but lacked the steadiness and decisiveness to break the match open.

It was all decided in the first half: in the 35th minute Roma earned the corner kick that allowed Silvi to head into the net. Perugia tried to react with a nice shot on a free kick by Rangana Timo that ended up in the goalkeeper’s arms, however. In the 42nd minute Glaser on a personal action manages to get past the defense and score the doubling goal. The second half saw a fairly balanced game with dangerous actions on both sides but resulting in nothing. Good performance by goalkeeper Marie-Océane Bayol who on three occasions showed off her mastery with level saves while holding the result steady. The final whistle files the match at 0-2.

POST RACE.

I am satisfied with my performance and that of my teammates ,” reports Giulia Piselli, “we were committed and in the first half we managed the game, managing to build a good game. Also in the second half we gave our best, creating good chances.” The red and white number 7 then dwelt on the picture that emerged this week with three close matches against top teams: “Surely playing such close matches can affect our performance. In this league there are no low-level teams, they have been difficult matches in which we have tried to give our best, just as we will do on Sunday against Pomigliano. However, the spirit remains one of unity and mutual trust.”

The words of coach Luciano Mancini close the day in anticipation of Sunday’s challenge against top-ranked Pomigliano: “At the level of results I was hoping for something more, but I think the girls interpreted the match well, considering the value of Roma and we can say that we came off the field in a dignified manner. Now we will have to check the condition of the girls, who are playing many games in a few days anyway. On Sunday we are going to face perhaps the strongest team overall so we will have to measure our strengths and channel them in the best way in the match.”

Next round: PERUGIA-POMIGLIANO Sunday, March 21, 3:30 p.m.
