Di Fiore: “If we stick together, satisfaction will come.”

Perugia, Dec. 3, 2020 – A difficult situation forAC Perugia Calcio Femminile‘s Serie B team, which has not taken the field since Oct. 18. The stop due to the Covid-19 pandemic weighs on a team that is hungry for victory and very eager to grow.

The red and white number 9, Lucrezia Di Fiore (photo attached), a midfielder class of 1998, talks about the expectations and the mood of the team, which is waiting for the moment to be able to safely take the field again.

“We knew that this year would not be an easy league in many ways. We are a young team with many new girls, we have to find the right balance and learn to be more cynical and shrewd at various times of the game. I think so far we have lacked some experience and that right amount of naughtiness and cunning, but we are working hard despite the difficult situation.”

In this regard, the griffon’s opinion highlights the unique picture of the women’s Serie B championship, which has seen a considerable number of matches postponed for each day since October:

“It’s a complicated time, we train but we can’t use locker rooms and showers; we are never all full and we haven’t played a game for more than a month now. With this situation it won’t be easy to start again and be able to get back into a game rhythm. It’s all a bit distorted and penalizing, but by sticking together, helping each other on the court and training well, we can take some satisfaction.”

Finally, Lucrezia Di Fiore also reminds us that it is important to look back to brighter moments in difficult times, recounting her fondest memory with the Perugia jersey dating back to last year’s Perugia-Cittadella league match, which ended 2-2:

“We were coming from a difficult period, first game after changing coaches; we were losing 2-1 and in the last minute I scored the equalizing goal (I don’t know how either, laughs ed.). It was not a winning goal but for me it is a beautiful memory.”
